Of Weight was a collaboration piece by myself, Seidi Haarla and Anna Jolma. It was shown in the international performance art event Beds.turku: Tripping. Beds created a chain of performances and installations in different locations in Turku, last being Theater Tehdas’ Jokistudio, where Of Weight unfolded.
In the performance we wanted to work with materials that inspired us: cigarette buds, tape and a theater weight. All of the materials and acts held significance: remaining unseen, appearing, setting boundaries with the audience, controlling the gaze, carrying the weight. We spent hours picking up the cigarette buds. For me it was as great of a part of the performance as the actual showing.
